Bitdefender Total

After a few months in witch email transmitted viruses dominated the domain, back in may, they suddenly kinda died and made place for a new generation of viruses that infect files shared in file-sharing systems.

Bitdefender, the security division of the SoftWin company, announced that now, the first places in the top of most dangerous infection threats are taken by a new virus generation, that infects files user download through the help of file-sharing servers (movies, music, games, software applications).

From the “old guard”, the only active virus is NetSky.P, who obtained a general infection rate of 3.83% of the total infections detected by bit defender. NetSky.P is currently placed 7 in the top of the most dangerous 10 viruses over the last month.

The first place was taken by Puce.G, a new version of an older virus, which infects files transmitted through file sharing systems. Although it holds the first place, the virus has been the cause for only 10.31% of infections. The older version Puce.B obtained the first place in Bitdefender’s top in October 2006.

On the second place we find the virus called Win32.Worm.Rjump.B, a virus that is also known from last year.

A surprise for specialists is the virus placed 5th, Win32.Jeefo.A, witch accumulates almost 4.04% of infections. This one is also a virus that infects DC++ files and other file sharing systems, but it is an unusual virus, written in MinGW programming language and encrypted to block antivirus access. This one is a virus that posses a big threat because infected files could get definitely destroyed.
